Architecture week is an annual international festival of architecture and urbanism, which takes place in Prague, Czech Republic for 10 years. It presents the brightest projects with the examples of contemporary architecture, urban planning, landscape and the development of the city. The festival includes lectures, professional conferences, city tours, movie screenings and other events. The main purpose of the festival is to create a platform between the architects and the society, to introduce an architecture as a bridge between different countries and cultures, provoking a debate between architecture and its creators. The festival is supported by architects and architectural studios, urban and regional constructors, builders, representatives of the city, specialists of historical and cultural heritage, universities and non-governmental organizations (NGO).
Armenia participates in the festival since 2013. As there are special conditions for Armenia, the representatives of Armenian pavilion are being selected through competition. Our counrty was represented by “UrbanLab Yerevan”, “Storaket”, “Archcoop”, “Urban Unit”, “Team Flyn” and “A&L” architectural studios. The Armenian organization of Architecture Week was established in 2016. On the 5th of September the first local Architecture week has been launched in national museum-institute of Al. Tamanyan in Yerevan, where were presented representatives of Armenia in Prague of previews years and the projects competing for 2016. Number of lectures were given in “The club” (Tumanyan 40), among which was the British architecture Tim Flynn, who authored the international school in Dilijan and had an honor to present Armenia in Architecture Week Prague this year.
